Ramsey County Commissioner Candidate Frethem Hires Campaign Manager

Ania McDonnell accepts role and launches Frethem's campaign with event on May 25

SHOREVIEW, MINN. – May 22, 2019 – Nicole Joy Frethem, a Shoreview resident and candidate for Ramsey County Commissioner in District 1, today announced Ania McDonnell has accepted the role of campaign manager. Frethem first announced her campaign on May 16.

A Policy Communications Fellow for Hennepin County in downtown Minneapolis, McDonnell is actively pursuing a master’s degree in public policy at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs, concentrating in gender policy and minoring in urban and regional planning. 

McDonnell has worked at many levels of government in recent years, including as assistant to two commissioners in the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners office and in part-time service as the campaign manager for Chair Commissioner Marion Greene of Hennepin County. She also has worked at the Minnesota State Capitol lobbying on city issues.

McDonnell is the chair of the Minnesota Women’s Collective Professional Development Committee. She received her bachelor’s degree from Hamline University and was raised in Duluth, Minn. 

Frethem and McDonnell will be hosting a launch event for Frethem’s campaign at Island Lake Park in Shoreview on Saturday. The community is invited to attend, meet Frethem and hear about her goals as Ramsey County Commissioner in District 1.
